Introduction

The Cat® Grade Control system is designed for earthmoving equipment in the construction application. The system can be used as-is or upgraded with a wide variety of AccuGradeTM options to expand functionality. The information that is provided can assist the operator to maintain accurate bucket guidance according to the project requirements.

System Overview

The Cat Grade Control system provides elevation and slope guidance. The system continually calculates the elevation difference between a reference surface and the tip of the bucket teeth. This elevation difference is used to inform the operator where the bucket tooth tip is in relation to the reference point (above, below, or on-grade).

The Cat Grade Control system does not provide a horizontal position. Therefore, design files, background maps, and avoidance zones are not supported by Cat Grade Control.

The Cat Grade Control system is upgradable to AccuGrade to allow the operator greater functionality such as 3D support (GPS/UTS) and other 1D/2D features (profile support) not available in Cat Grade Control.
