For increased leak protection, the existing oil pan seal and oil pan mounting hardware will be replaced with new hardware consisting of the same part numbers. The procedures below must be used when installing the new hardware.
Oil Pan Removal

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Drain the oil into a suitable container. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities and Recommendations".
- Remove bolts (1), washers (2), fastener assemblies (3) and remove oil pan (4) .

Oil Pan Installation
- Apply sealant (1) at four locations marked (1). Sealant should be applied in 4 ± 1 mm (0.16 ± 0.04 inch) diameter beads.
Note: All joints using sealant must be assembled within 10 minutes of the application.

Note: Ensure that the oil pan and mating surfaces are clean and free of oil.
- Install fastener assemblies (2) and the gasket (4) onto oil pan (3) .

Note: Be sure to use new fastener assemblies as well as a new isolation seal.
- Position oil pan (3), washers (5), and bolts (6) into place.

- Tighten bolts (6) in the above sequence.

- Fill the engine with oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities and Recommendations".
