当涡轮增压器压缩空燃混合气时，混合气的温度升高。 后冷器属于水冷式。 后冷器位于空燃混合器出口和进气歧管进口之间的涡轮增压器的下游。 后冷器利用散热器芯将涡轮增压空气的热量传递到独立回路冷却系统中。 后冷器降低了涡轮增压器压缩的空燃混合气的温度。 冷却空气密度更高，为燃烧提供了更多氧气。 更多的氧气可燃烧更多的燃油。 实现了发动机功率的增加。
