Installation Procedure

1. Use Tooling (E) and a suitable lifting device in order to install torque converter (5) . The weight of torque converter (5) is approximately 125 kg (275 lb).

   Note: Ensure that the torque converter adapter is clean. Apply a thin film of clean transmission oil onto the torque converter adapter. Ensure that the splines are aligned. Gently install torque converter (5) .

2. Install bolt (4) . Tighten bolt (4) to a torque of 285 ± 15 N·m (210 ± 11 lb ft).

   Note: If input shaft turns before bolt (4) torque is reached, install yoke onto output shaft and position a prybar to hold yoke. Proceed to Torque bolt (4) to 285 ± 15 N·m (210 ± 11 lb ft).

3. Install plug (3) . Tighten plug (3) to a torque of 285 ± 15 N·m (210 ± 11 lb ft).

4. Use Tooling (D) in order to position the transmission horizontally. Attach Tooling (B) , Tooling (C) , and a suitable lifting device onto transmission and torque converter (2) . The weight of transmission and torque converter (2) is approximately 544 kg (1200 lb). The weight of transmission and torque converter (2) with a retarder is approximately 590 kg (1300 lb).

5. Remove transmission and torque converter (2) from Tooling (D) .

6. Remove Tooling (A) from the transmission housing.

7. Install bracket (1) .
