初次起动新发动机或大修过的发动机和起动已经维修过的发动机时，要作好出现超速时的停机准备。 这可以通过切断发动机的空气和/或燃油供应来实现。 |

发动机排气含有对人体有害的燃烧产物。 必须在良好通风的场所起动和运转发动机，如果在封闭场所，要将废气排到外面去。 |
检查发动机有无潜在危险。
如果起动开关或操纵装置上系有一个"不准操作"警告标签或类似警告标签，切勿起动发动机或移动任何操控装置。
启动发动机前，确保发动机上面、下面或周围附近无人。 确保附近没有任何人员。
如有配备，确保用于发动机的照明系统适合于工况条件。 确保所有照明灯工作正常。
如果进行维修作业必须启动发动机，必须安装好所有保护罩、盖。 为了预防旋转件引起事故，在旋转件周围工作要小心。
不要旁通自动关断电路。 不要停用自动关断电路。 这种电路的设置是为了防止人身伤害， 同时也可防止发动机损坏。
