Note: These functions and features may not be available for all tool control systems.
Reference: Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Work Tool Parameter - Program" for the tool control system to view the complete list of parameter descriptions and the procedure to change the settings for work tool operation.
Parameter #1
This feature allows the image of the work tool that will be displayed within the monitor.
Parameter #2
This feature allows the user to set the name of the work tool that will be displayed with the monitor.
Parameter #3 and #4
The upper and lower limits of the engine speed can be set at engine speed dial position when the work tool is operated. This setting will allow a stable supply of hydraulic oil to the work tool.
If engine speed dial position is changed from the upper and lower limits when the tool is being operated, move the engine speed dial position to the desired speed. However, this action only applies to the upper limit set when the work tool is using an auxiliary pump for medium pressure.
This feature is disabled if the engine speed dial upper and lower limits are set to 10 and 1.
Parameter #5
The operator can Enable or Disable ECO mode for the machine when the tool is in operation. This option is available on machines equipped with ECO mode only.
Supply Pump Changeover Function
Parameter #6
Selection of the drive pump ("Pump #1") or idler pump ("Pump #2") to supply oil to the work tool is available. The supply pump selection comes in "Combined flow", "Pump #1", and "Pump #2" according to the work tool application.
When "Pump #1" is selected to supply oil to the work tool, the proportional reducing valves used to shift attachment control valve spool #2 are disabled. When "Pump #2" is selected to supply oil to the work tool, the proportional reducing valves used to shift attachment control valve spool #1 are disabled.
This function will increase the operability of the work tool when performing an additional function at the same time. Selecting the pump to supply the work tool that is supplying the least amount of oil to the additional machine functions to ensure that the work tool is obtaining the maximum amount of oil flow that is available.
Auxiliary Pump Horsepower Reduction Control
Parameter #7 and #8
The ratio of torque to be reduced for the main pumps can be set when an auxiliary pump is being used to control the work tool. This operation will allow the available torque from the engine to be utilized effectively. Parameters that are available to be set are the ratio of reducing torque for the auxiliary pump installation and the ratio of reducing torque when the work tool driven by the auxiliary pump is operated.
Parameter #11, #12, and #13
In this function, pressure increase in the tool circuit is sensed by tool load pressure sensor. If the pressure reaches the set pressure or higher, the machine ECM send the appropriate signals to the proportional reducing valves that control the attachment control valves to reduce the pilot pressure.
When a cylinder of the work tool reaches the end of the cylinder stroke, the pressure at the work tool becomes high. This increased pressure will cause oil to flow into additional cylinders that may be in operation at that moment. The increased flow will result in a sudden increase of the movement or speed of the receiving cylinder. In order to prevent this sudden increase of speed or movement, limitation to the spool shift of the attachment control valve for the work tool is applied by the proportional reducing valves. This operation will allow for better work tool control and enhance synchronous operation with the work tool.
Parameter #14
This feature will enhance the synchronous operation of the work tool and other machine implement movement by switching the pump supplying oil to the work tool from idler pump to drive pump. This action will occur when the work tool is operated at the same time as a Boom UP, Stick OUT, or Swing function occurs. This feature is only available when the parameter for the pump supplying oil to the work to is set to "Combined Flow".
For example, when the work tool is operated along with a Boom UP operation, the boom UP operation is sensed by the machine ECM. The machine ECM sends the signal to the proportional reducing valves for the attachment control valves. The pilot pressure to attachment control valve #1 for the idler pump oil is shut off. This spool centers and allows all of the oil from the idler pump be used for the Boom UP function. The supply oil for the work tool is provided by the drive pump.
This enhanced multiple operation of work tool and implement works the same for Stick OUT and Swing operations as well in the same manner.
Boom and Stick Cylinder Speed Limit
Parameter #21, #22, #23, and #24
This function makes adjustment of spool shift pressure of Boom DOWN and Stick IN control valve operation according to work tool parameters set in the machine ECM.
Operator input for Boom DOWN or Stick IN with a heavy work tool installed is sensed by Boom DOWN pressure sensor or Stick IN pressure sensor. The machine ECM sends the signal to the Boom DOWN proportional reducing valve and the Stick IN proportional reducing valve to reduce the pilot pressure shifting the control valve spools. This operation will increase control of the work tool by decreasing the speed of the implements caused by the heavy weight of the work tool.
Refer to Systems Operation, "Combined Function - Electronic Control" for additional information on the operation of this function.
Parameter #26
Temperature to display a hydraulic oil warning can be set in the parameters for each work tool to be installed.
Parameter #27, #28, #37, and #38
Main pump flow control allows the upper limits of the main pump flow to be set when the work tool is in use. This setting will also allow for the additional flow in multiple operation of the work tool and implements at the same time.
When the work tool is operated alone, the "Flow Setting" (parameter #27 and #37) is the upper limit for main pump flow to the work tool. When operating the work tool and an implement at the same time, the flow control pressure equivalent to the smaller value of the parameters is used. This flow control is maintained with the flow limit valves for the main pumps. This function is not available when the work tool is using the auxiliary pump for medium pressure.
When setting the "Multi-Operation Additional Flow" (parameter #28 and #38) setting, the sum of the upper limit oil flow and additional oil flow with multiple operation is controlled by the main pump flow limit valves. The multiple operation function is applied to an implement, swing, and/or travel operation along with a work tool operation.
Note: The flow to the work tool may exceed the upper "Flow Setting" (parameter #27 and #37) by setting the "Multi-Operation Additional Flow" (parameter #28 and #38).
Spool Shift Pressure Limit of Attachment Control Valves (Single Operation)
Parameter #30, #31, #40, and #41
The maximum pressure that is sent by the proportional reducing valves to shift the spools of the attachment control valves can be set. This setting is for operating the work tool alone.
This feature sets the maximum pressure of the spool shift can be set for either extension and retraction of the attachment control valves. This setting can also be used for controlling the supply oil for the work tool from the drive or idler pump. This feature allows for both extension and retraction pressure to shift both attachment control valve spools to be set. These parameters will allow for the oil flow from both pumps be used effectively.
Spool Shift Pressure Limit of Attachment Control Valve (Multiple Operation)
Parameter #32, #33, #42, and #43
Operating an implement and/or swing along with the operation of the work tool can be enhanced by reducing the pressure used to shift the attachment control valve spools.
This feature sets the maximum pressure of the spool shift can be set for either extension and retraction of the attachment control valves when operating an additional machine function. This setting can also be used for controlling the supply oil for the work tool from the drive or idler pump with multiple operations. This feature allows for both extension and retraction pressure to shift both attachment control valve spools to be set. These parameters will allow for the oil flow from both pumps be used effectively.
One-Way/Two-Way Flow Changeover Function
Parameter #29 and #39
One-Way flow mode allows the oil flow to the work tool in only one direction. Two-Way flow mode allows oil to be directed to the work tool in two ways depending on the work tool installed. For example, a hammer would require one-way flow and a grapple would require two-way flow.
One-way flow is obtained by disabling the proportional reducing valves for the retraction of the attachment control valves. Two-way flow is allowed by using both sets of the proportional reducing valves for extension and retraction of the attachment control valves.
One-way flow mode sets the variable relief valve #2 to full open position. This mode setting will bypass the return oil around the main control valve and directly to the cooler. This bypass will result in an increase of efficiency of the work tool by reducing the resistance of sending return oil through the main control valve.
Oil Flow Direction Change Function
Parameter #36 and #46
This function allows the direction of oil flow to be reversed from the normal setting. This setting can be used with a work tool that has an inverse direction of oil flow to extend and retract from a normal work tool. This function setting is only available when the two-way flow mode is set.
