Description of Change: A change to the bearing cage assembly and the piston have been made to the petroleum transmissions. The changes will increase service life and reliability.

Adaptable To: The new 357-6623 Bearing Cage Assembly and 357-6621 Clutch Piston are adaptable to the following transmissions:

• (S/N: FRT1-474,485-486,488-488,490-490,499-499,501-501)

The new 357-6623 Bearing Cage Assembly and 357-6621 Clutch Piston are effective with the following transmissions:

• (S/N: FRT475-484,487,489,491-498,500,502-UP)

Surface area to removed if machining the original 293-5858 Bearing Cage Assembly . (A) 3.6 mm (0.14 inch) (B) 284 ± 0.5 mm (11.2 ± 0.02 inch) (C) 385 ± 0.5 mm (15.2 ± 0.02 inch)

The previous 293-5858 Bearing Cage As can be machined and reused if desired. Refer to Illustration 1 for details. The replacement of the 9W-6415 Clutch Piston with the new 357-6621 Clutch Piston must be performed when updating with the new 357-6623 Bearing Cage As or reworked 293-5858 Bearing Cage As. In order to maintain proper clutch pack clearances, the complete update must be performed. Two additional plates are added to the clutch pack when performing this update. A 8P-2051 Plate is added to the cage end of the clutch pack. A 232-7432 Plate is added to the piston end of the clutch pack.
