Usage:
3406B, 3406B (PEEC) Truck Engines
Continuing improvements and advancement in product design have been made to all 3406B Truck Engines. This, plus new recommendations for maintenance, has caused the need for new Operation and Maintenance Manuals for these engines. All dealers, truck engine users, and OEM's are asked to order the applicable new manual and scrap the former manual.
Some of the new recommendations are:
... Connecting rod bearing maintenance between 402 500 and 483 000 km (250,000 and 300,000 mi). See article, "Connecting Rod Bearing Maintenance", in this issue of this publication.
... Extended preventive maintenance (PM Level) schedules.
... Two schedules for engines with different ratings.
For 3406B Truck Engines (7FB, 4MG), order SEBU6312, which replaces SEBU6026-03. For 3406B (PEEC) Truck Engines (8TC), order SEBU6313, which replaces SEBU6107-02.
The current Operation and Maintenance Manual for 3406 (92U) Truck Engines is still SEBU5595-02. Do NOT scrap these manuals.
