Metering - Check

Usage:

UPSB 125 SEP
High voltage levels are present within the UPS. The UPS should be opened only by service personnel that are qualified. The UPS must have a proper ground connection to earth.

------ DANGER! ------

High voltage is present. Work on this equipment must be performed by authorized trained personnel. Personnel must be wearing Personal Protective Equipment that meets regulatory requirements to protect the body for the work that is being performed. Failure to use appropriate PPE to protect the body will result in serious personal injury or death.

Complete the following to verify that the metering function is operating before further service work is performed.

Preparing the UPS

Prior to performing the metering check, verify the following:

  • Verify that the MAINS 1 (Q1) upstream disconnect, and if applicable the MAINS 2 (Q4S) upstream disconnect are in the ON position or closed.

  • Verify that the MAINS 1, MAINS 2, battery disconnects, and the output switches are in the ON position or closed.

  • Verify that the maintenance bypass switch is in the OFF position or open.

Review Measurements

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suitable to the work being performed must be worn when performing maintenance on the UPS.

Review the measurements that are available from the LCD screen. During this inspection, identify any irregularities with the metering before removing the unit from service.

Using the LCD screen, note all of the following measurements:

  • AC and DC voltage measurements

  • AC and DC current measurements

  • kVA, kW, and power measurements

  • Frequency

Using the necessary metering equipment, test the above measurements at the input and output of the UPS. Validate per the measurement values on the LCD screen.
