UPSB125 Uninterruptible Power Supply UPS Battery - 50Hz Caterpillar

DC Bus Voltage - Test

Usage:

UPSB 125 SEP
High voltage levels are present within the UPS. The UPS should be opened only by service personnel that are qualified. The UPS must have a proper ground connection to earth.

------ DANGER! ------

Failure to connect the unit to a suitable grounding electrode creates an electrical shock hazard. An electrical shock will result in serious personal injury or death.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suitable to the work being performed must be worn when performing maintenance on the UPS.

------ DANGER! ------

High voltage is present. Work on this equipment must be performed by authorized trained personnel. Personnel must be wearing Personal Protective Equipment that meets regulatory requirements to protect the body for the work that is being performed. Failure to use appropriate PPE to protect the body will result in serious personal injury or death.

------ WARNING! ------

Performing maintenance inspections with power supplied to the UPS may result in serious personal injury or death. When using an external maintenance bypass, the UPS can be fully de-energized. When using an internal maintenance bypass, the UPS is not fully de-energized. Refer to the Building System Schematic to ensure that all necessary precautions have been taken before performing any maintenance procedure. Use lock out and tag out procedures as required.

----------------------

Verify that the UPS is configured for the Test mode before beginning this test as follows:

  1. Place the MAINS 1 (Q1) input switch in the On (closed) position.

  1. Place the MAINS 2 (Q4S) input switch in the ON (closed) position.

  1. Place the output switch in the ON (closed) position.

  1. Place the battery disconnects in the ON (closed) position.

  1. Place the internal maintenance bypass switch in the ON (closed) position to ensure that the power is not lost to the load of the customer.

  1. Select "Manual Mode" from the maintenance option with the UPS Tuner service tool that is connected to the unit.

  1. Increase the DC bus voltage gradually.

When the DC bus voltage reaches 630 VDC and you exit from the "Manual Mode", all cooling fans should start.

  1. Verify the following:

    • The "PFC ON" LED (52) is illuminated green on the graphical display.

    • If the automatic start is enabled, the inverter automatically couples upon power-up and the output bus is supplied via the inverter.

    • The LED light for the "UPS ON" (49) is illuminated on the graphical display.

  1. Press and hold the OFF button (46) on the display for 3 seconds to stop the inverter.

  1. Silence any remaining alarms.

The total DC bus voltage is 800 vdc. The voltage is split into two halves at plus 400 vdc or minus 400 vdc.

Measuring the DC bus voltage

Observe all safety precautions and use appropriate PPE when measuring the DC bus voltage.

Measure the DC output bus as follows:

  1. Verify the upper DC bus voltage 400 vdc +/- 4 vdc. The voltage is measured from DC positive to the middle point of the FIAZN

  1. Verify that the lower DC bus voltage is -400 vdc +/- 4 vdc. The voltage is measured from the middle point of the FIAZN to DC negative.
