Be Sure Battery Charger Connections Are Correct{1406}

Usage:

3114 And 3116 Standby Generator Set Engines

Check the battery charger connections on all 3114 and 3116 Standby Generator Set Engines. Illustration 1 shows the correct wiring for generator sets with Electronic Modular Control Panels (EMCP). Illustration 2 shows the correct wiring for generator sets with conventional control panels. Some generator sets may have the B+ and B- wires (050-271/150-271 and 051-270/151-270 respectively) reversed at the battery charger. Some generator sets may have the wiring (157-268 and 158-269) to the disconnect circuit terminals on the battery charger reversed, or those same wires may be reversed at terminals 1 and 2 on the starter motor magnetic switch (SMMS). The battery charger will not be damaged by incorrect wiring, but it will not function correctly.

NOTE: On earlier diagrams provided with the generator sets, the wire connected to the B+ terminal of the battery charger was incorrectly identified as 151-271. The correct identification is 150-271.
