Do Not Weld Rods To Eyes, Straighten Rods, Or Build Up Rods With Weld On Any Steering Cylinders, Scraper Bowl Lift Cylinders, Or Truck Suspension Cylinders{4303,5303,7201}

Usage:

When salvaging hydraulic cylinder rods, certain procedures and recommendations should always be followed. Use the Guidelines For Reusable Parts, "Inspection and Salvage of Hydraulic Cylinders and Rods", SEBF8072-01.

Of particular importance is the following Warning which appears on several pages in SEBF8072-01. The term "rerodding" means replacing only the rod portion, and reusing the eye on the new rod portion.

------ WARNING! ------

Caterpillar does NOT recommend rerodding, straightening or building up with weld any rods that are used in steering cylinders, scraper bowl cylinders, or suspension cylinders on trucks. These types of rods can be ground and chrome plated, if done according to Caterpillar specifications.
