UPS system with separate normal and bypass AC inputs

The UPS will make an interrupted transfer, if the bypass source is beyond the conditions that are stated below. The transfer will not be more than 100 milliseconds in duration.

  • Bypass voltage greater than ±15%, from the rated output voltage of the UPS.

  • Bypass frequency greater than ±2 Hz from the rated output frequency of the UPS.

When sizing the upstream circuit breakers, the time and current curves for the UPS input and output fuses must be taken into account.

Maximum operating altitude without derating     3281 ft (< 1000 m)
Operating temperature range at Pn     32°F to 104°F (0°C to 40°C)

Note: The operating temperature range is 0° C (32° F) to 40° C (104° F). For overload conditions, the range is 0° C (32° F) to 30° C (86° F). The optimum operating range is within 20° C (68° F) to 25° C (77° F). The length of time for battery backup is adversely affected by high temperatures and low temperatures. The length of time for battery backup is reduced even greater at temperatures under 10° C (50° F). Above 25° C (77° F), battery service life is cut in half every 10° C (18° F). Above 40° C (104° F), battery manufacturers no longer guarantee operation due to the risk of thermal runaway.

Maximum Allowable Power

Illustration 6g02239193

Note: The maximum allowable power for six parallel UPS systems is limited to5 x Pn for 40kVA to 80kVA UPS systems. For 100kVA to 130kVA UPS systems, the maximum is up to4 x Pn.
