NOTICE |
---|
Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
NOTICE |
---|
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Cat Dealer Service Tool Catalog" or refer to Special Publication, PECJ0003, "Cat Shop Supplies and Tools Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

Typical example of View A-A and View B-B |
- Disconnect harness assembly (1).
- Remove bolt (4) and bracket (3). Remove engine speed/timing sensor (2).
Note: There are two engine speed/timing sensors. The removal procedure is identical for both of the sensors.
Procedure for Cleaning, Inspecting, and Calibration
Check the condition of the plastic end of the sensor for wear and/or contaminants. Clean the metal shavings and other debris from the face of the sensor. Use the procedure in the Troubleshooting Guide in order to calibrate the sensor.
NOTICE |
---|
The speed/timing sensors must be installed to the proper depth for correct operation. The speed/timing sensors and the housing (front) must be free of any contaminates to ensure proper speed/timing sensors installation depth. |
- Install engine speed/timing sensor (2). Put bracket (3) in position and install bolt (4).
- Connect harness assembly (1).
Note: There are two engine speed/timing sensors. The installation procedure is identical for both sensors.
