Description of Change: A new ground wire is used to reduce electrical noise that is introduced into the system.
Adaptable To: The 320-9696 Wire As will provide proper grounding of the ECM enclosure. One end of the 320-9696 Wire As is attached to the bolt that secures the enclosure for the ECM to the 275-8193 Instrument Mounting Gp. This bolt must be replaced with a 2B-2694 Bolt (5/16 -18 X 2 inch). The opposite end of the wire assembly is attached to the bolt that secures the 275-8193 Instrument Mounting Gp to the engine block. Refer to Illustrations 1 and 2.

Attach the ground wire at the locations that are indicated by the arrows. | |
The new ground wire should be installed on all the generator set engines that are listed in Table 1.
Note: The ground wire assembly can be fabricated by using a 520 mm (20.5 inch) length of 12 gauge wire. Install a 8.77 mm (0.3453 inch) ring terminal to one end of the wire. Install a 13.08 mm (0.5150 inch) ring terminal to the opposite end of the wire.
