(2) Inlet passage (3) Base (4) Outlet passage |
Case drain oil filter (1) returns case drain oil from the steering, hoist piston pump, and brake hoist fan pump. Oil flows through inlet passage (2). During normal operation, the oil flows through case drain oil filter (1) and back to filter base (3). Oil flows out outlet passage (4) to the hydraulic tank. Case drain oil filter (1) stops any debris that is in the oil.
If case drain oil filter (1) becomes full of debris, a restriction to the flow of oil will occur. The restriction causes a pressure increase inside case drain oil filter (1). The pressure of the oil causes the bypass valve in base (3) to open. Oil will flow past the open bypass valve. Unfiltered oil will enter the hydraulic tank and contaminate the hydraulic oil.
Use correct maintenance to prevent case drain oil filter (1) from becoming full of debris.
