New Software Is Now Used On Certain D7E Track-Type Tractors {5701, 7490, 7601, 7603, 7610, 7620}

Usage:

D7E HKA
Track-Type Tractor
D7E (S/N: HKA1-UP; SSH1-UP)

Description Of Change: New software is now used on certain D7E Track-Type Tractors. The new software contains improvements for the Machine ECM, the Implement ECM, and the Display ECM.

New Software Part Numbers Machine ECM, Implement ECM, and Display ECM

Notes:

  • Cat ET software release version 2015B or the latest available Cat ET version is recommended for flashing to utilize the improvements in this software update release.

  • When flashing a software file to the Information Display, certain machine configurations may cause a data link loading issue that could interfere with the flash. This interference can result in the software flash aborting or hanging up and not completing as expected. If the initial Information Display flash aborts or takes abnormally long to complete, abort the flash procedure. Start the flash procedure again. The flash procedure should complete successfully on the second attempt to flash.

  • When updating software on the D7E Medium Track Type Tractor, all the applicable machine control modules should be updated with the listed software files or the latest available version of software at the same time. Refer to the Caterpillar Service Information System to verify that all flash files are the latest version.

  • After flashing new software to an ECM or multiple ECMs, always reset the ECM by cycling the power supply. Turn the key switch and the disconnect switch from ON position to the OFF position. Wait 10 seconds. Then, turn the disconnect switch and the key switch to the ON position as required. Clear any active or logged diagnostics before operating the machine.

Machine ECM Software

  • Improvement to suppress the activation of the E-1657 (Speed Direction Thumb Wheel / Handle / Tiller Roller) diagnostic code.

  • Change to the E1440 "Low Separate Circuit Coolant Pressure" activation logic. The event will be suppressed when engine speed is less than 1000 RPM

  • Improvement to the initial start at the beginning of cranking the engine. (Resolves issue where, at engine crank, the engine start is aborted.)

  • Enhancement to the "Limp Home Mode" adjustment. (A change to the allowable speed limit when in "Limp Home Mode". The maximum allowable speed is set to 0.2.)

Implement Software (Implement ECM)

  • Improvement to the activation logic of the pitch rate sensor (CID 872 "Pitch Rate Sensor: Abnormal Update Rate") diagnostic code. Intended to minimize unnecessary activations of the diagnostic code

  • Corrects issue where the "out of calibration diagnostics" are not correct when changing from single to dual tilt blade

Message Display Software

  • Support added for E225(2) (Engine Over crank Event) - if starter is held on >45 seconds, event will be logged

  • Support added for E678(1) (Ground Level Shutdown) - Code not supported previously

  • Improvement to the calculation for fuel rate to provide greater accuracy

  • Corrects issue where when machine power test is aborted it was displaying "Unknown Error Code". 0009 Error Code is now supported "Service Test Aborted by Tool/Monitor".

Adaptable To: The new software part numbers for Machine, Implement, and Display are adaptable to and effective with machines listed in Table 2.
