Fuel System Filter (In-Line) - Replace

Usage:

PL61 RB7


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Note: Replace the fuel filter before the scheduled interval if any of the following occur:

  • The filter screen is more than half obstructed.

  • Engine performance is poor.

  1. Open the access door at the back of the machine. The in-line fuel system filter is directly below the fuel tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Access Doors and Covers".

  2. Close fuel shutoff valve (1).

  3. Loosen hose clamps.

  4. Remove in-line fuel filter (2) and discard the fuel filter.

  5. Replace in-line fuel filter (2). Ensure that the arrow on the filter points upward.

  6. Tighten hose clamps.

  7. Open fuel shutoff valve (1).

  8. Start the engine.

  9. Check for leaks.

  10. Close the rear access door.
