Improved Clam Shell Latch Linkage for Rear Hood Group Is Available for Certain Medium Wheel Loaders {7251, 7251} Caterpillar

The clam shell latch linkage is now improved with addition of a new plate on the machines listed above. The new improvement will provide better tolerance between latch linkage and latch lever to prevent over ride. The addition of plate will improve the latching and unlatching operations.

Improved 372-2340 Linkage As is adaptable to machines listed above.

Follow the below rework procedure to update the 372-2340 Linkage As on the above listed adaptable machines.

1. Remove two 9X-2045 Screws which secures 118-3146 Rotary Latch Assembly (B). Discard two 9X-2045 Screws.

2. Place new plate (1) as shown in Illustration 2.

3. Secure new plate (1) and 118-3146 Rotary Latch Assembly (B) with two screws (2). Before assembly, apply blue Loctite 243 to the screw threads.

4. Tighten two screws (2) to 6 ± 1 N·m (53 ± 9 lb in).
