Thermal Starting Aid

------ WARNING! ------

Do not use aerosol types of starting aids such as ether. Such use could result in an explosion and personal injury.

Note: Glow plugs are automatically activated by the engine ECM under certain conditions.

Note: In applications for cold weather, pause until the indicator lamp for the starting aid turns off.

Engine Speed Control (If Equipped)

Note: Using both the engine speed control and the creeper control will allow the operator to set the engine rpm and ground speed independently.

The governor pedal is located on the floor of the operator compartment. Push down on the pedal in order to increase the engine speed. Release the pedal in order to decrease the engine speed.

Throttle Lock (1) - When the desired speed is reached, push the top of the switch in order to set the machine speed. In order to increase the desired speed, push in the bottom of the switch. In order to decrease the desired speed, push the top of the switch. This action will erase the preset speed that was set by the operator. Press the service brake pedal in order to disengage the engine speed control temporarily. Push in the bottom half of the switch in order to resume the preset speed that was set by the operator.

Engine Speed Control (2) - The switch for the engine speed control is located on the right side console. The engine speed control allows the operator to set the engine rpm. The engine speed control is designed for use with work tools in applications that require a constant engine rpm.

There are two methods of setting the engine rpm. When the engine speed control is in the ON position, an indicator light in the switch will come on.

Using the Accelerator Pedal with the Engine Speed Control Switch

Push down the accelerator pedal in order to achieve the desired engine rpm. While the engine rpm is in the desired range, push the top of the switch to the ON position. The engine speed control will hold the desired engine rpm when the switch is released.

After setting the engine rpm, the rpm can be increased further by holding the top of the switch until the desired rpm is reached.

Using the Engine Speed Control Switch Only

The desired engine rpm can also be set by pushing and holding the top of the switch. The rpm will increase steadily. Release the switch when the desired engine rpm has been reached.

After setting the engine rpm, the rpm can be increased further by holding the top of the switch until the desired rpm is reached.

Deactivating the Engine Speed Control

Off - To release the engine speed control, push the bottom of the switch or depress either brake pedal. When sufficient brake pressure is achieved, the system will deactivate. This action allows use of the inching mode without deactivating the engine speed control.
