Introduction
The following test will determine if the electrical coil is energizing and if the plunger is shifting in order to permit oil flow.

Machine Preparation
- Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location.
- Use suitable lifting devices in order to lift the machine. The tracks must be able to turn freely in both directions.
- Place the steering control lever in the NEUTRAL position.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Lower the attachments to the ground.
- Verify that the implement lockout switch is in the UNLOCKED position.
- Move the control levers through the full range of travel several times to relieve any pressure that may be present in the implement hydraulic system.
- Stop the engine.
- Remove the cover for the solenoids.
- Attach tooling (A) and tooling (B) to pressure tap (P1) and (P2) .

Test Procedure
A solenoid that makes a click does not ensure that the solenoid plunger has shifted. The following test will tell if the solenoid plunger is shifting.

2-F     | 2, 4     | 2, 4     |
3-F     | 2, 3     | 2, 3     |

- Operate the engine at HIGH IDLE. Make sure that the steering control lever is in the NEUTRAL position.
- Check the pressure at pressure tap (P1). The pressure at pressure tap (P1) should be 2590 ± 170 kPa (375 ± 25 psi). Check the pressure at pressure tap (P2). The pressure at pressure tap (P2) should be 2210 ± 170 kPa (320 ± 25 psi).
- Operate the engine at LOW IDLE.
- Depress the service brake pedal and hold the service brake pedal. Release the parking brake. Press the downshift switch until the transmission is in FIRST SPEED. Watch the pressure gauge and move the direction control switch from NEUTRAL to FORWARD.
Note: The needle on the pressure gauge should drop. The needle should then return to the original pressure. With the transmission in FORWARD, press the upshift switch through the remaining FORWARD speeds and return to FIRST SPEED. The same pressure drop should be noted in all speeds. This checks the operation of all the speed clutches.
- Depress the service brake pedal and hold the service brake pedal. Release the parking brake. Press the downshift switch until the transmission is in FIRST SPEED. Move the direction control switch to the FORWARD position.
Note: Watch the pressure gauge and move the direction control switch to the REVERSE position. The needle on the gauge should drop. The needle should then return to the original pressure. Now, move the direction control switch back to the FORWARD position. The same pressure drop should be noted. This checks the operation of both direction clutches.
Note: If the pressure drop can be seen, the solenoid is functioning and the related electrical circuit is functioning.
Note: If the pressure drop cannot be seen, use a screwdriver to check the solenoid coil for electricity. If the screwdriver is attracted to the solenoid, the coil is energized. The problem is in the solenoid cartridge.
Note: If the screwdriver does not indicate that the coil is energized, the problem is in the electrical circuit.
Note: All tests and adjustments must be made with oil in the power train hydraulic system at normal temperature for operation.
Couplings are installed on the power train hydraulic system. All of the pressure taps may not be shown in the photos.
Do not connect or disconnect the couplings when there is pressure in the system. Connecting or disconnecting the couplings when there is pressure in the system will damage to the seal that is in the coupling.
