Introduction
This special instruction outlines the procedure to properly torque the nuts on the steering lock mechanism.
Do not perform any procedure in this publication until you understand the information that is contained in this publication.
Machine Preparation
Move the machine to a surface that is smooth, hard, and level. Move the machine to an area that is away from operating machines and away from personnel.
Install blocks on the front and the rear of the front wheels.
Torque Procedure
- Remove mat (1) and plate (2) from the storage box.

- Remove bolts (3) in the bottom of the box.

- Remove bolts (4) inside the box.

- Remove knob (7), bolts (8), and bolts (9). Remove covers (10). Refer to Illustration 5 and Illustration 6.

- Tighten jam nut (11) to 8.5 ± 1.3 N·m (75.2 ± 11.5 lb in).
Tighten jam nut (12) to 1 ± 0.15 N·m (8.85 ± 1.33 lb in).

- Use the existing hardware in order to reinstall the covers.
- Use the existing hardware in order to reinstall the storage box.
