J1939 Data Link
A J1939 compliant data link shall be provided for communication with engines and transmissions as well as instrument clusters and other devices that use this communications protocol.
The messages detailed below shall be supported.

The J1939 Data Link provides a method by which the transmission can limit speed/torque of engine or do a speed override of the engine.
Using the J1939 Data Link, the transmission can send messages to the engine to limit the torque output of the engine during a shift. This is needed for protecting the transmission mechanical parts and used to improve the shift quality.
Note: The bus loads for the J1939 Data Link may exceed 50% when additional components are attempting to send messages across the data link. The communication between the engine and the transmission may become unreliable when the bus load exceeds 50%. In this event, the result is an erratic engine response.
