Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

Personal injury can result from contact with refrigerant.

This system is under pressure at all times, even if the engine is not running. Heat should never be applied to a charged system.

Contact with refrigerant can cause frost bite. Keep face and hands away to help prevent injury.

Protective goggles must always be worn when refrigerant lines are opened, even if the gauges indicate the system is empty of refrigerant.

Always use caution when a fitting is removed. Slowly loosen the fitting. If the system is still under pressure, evacuate the system recovering the refrigerant before removing the fitting.

Personal injury or death can result from inhaling refrigerant through a lit cigarette.

Inhaling air conditioner refrigerant gas through a lit cigarette or other smoking method or inhaling fumes released from a flame contacting air conditioner refrigerant gas, can cause bodily harm or death.

Do not smoke when servicing air conditioners or wherever refrigerant gas may be present.

Before any checks of the air conditioning and heating system are made, move the machine to a smooth horizontal surface. Lower all implements to the ground. Make sure the transmission is in neutral or park and that the parking brake is engaged. Keep all other personnel away from the machine or where they can be seen.

  1. Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to cooling system package (55). The weight of cooling system package (55) is approximately 700 kg (1543 lb).

  1. Install cooling system package (55) .

  1. Install 16 bolts (58) that hold the cooling system package to the front frame.

  1. Install four mounts (57) and four bolts (56) .

  1. Install two bolts (54) .

  1. Connect three hose assemblies (53) .

  1. Install fuel filter (51) .

  1. Connect electrical connector (50) .

  1. Connect two hose assemblies (47) and install clip (48) .

  1. Connect harness assembly (44), hose (43) and hose (41). Attach two cable straps (42) (as shown).

  1. Position hose assemblies (20) and install two clips (40) .

  1. Install tube assembly (38) and tighten hose clamp (39) .

  1. Install tube assembly (36), clamp assemblies (35) and (37).

  1. Tighten two hose clamps (34) .

  1. Install tube assembly (32), clamp assemblies (33), (31) and (30) .

  1. Install bolt (23), two bolts (24), two bolts (26) and two bolts (27) .

  1. Tighten six bolts (25) .

  1. Install guard (21) and the three bolts.

    Note: Ensure that any opening is properly sealed with the attached rubber baffles. Failure to properly seal will affect the performance of the cooling system.

  1. Connect two hose assemblies (20) .

  1. Tighten two hose clamps (19), two hose clamps (18) and two hose clamps (17) .

  1. Install tube assembly (15) and clamp assembly (14). Tighten two hose clamps (16) .

  1. Install tube assembly (11) and clamp assembly (12). Tighten two hose clamps (13) .

  1. Tighten two hose clamps (10) and two hose clamps (9) .

  1. Connect hose assemblies (8), (7) and (6). Connect harness assembly (5) .

  1. Install tube assembly (4) and tighten two hose clamps (3) .

  1. Connect hose assembly (2) .

  1. Tighten two hose clamps (1) .

  1. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the capacity of the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (DEAC) - Change" or Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

  1. Charge the air conditioner system. Refer to Service Manual, SENR5664, "Air Conditioning and Heating Systems with R-134a Refrigerant" for the procedure. Refer to Special Publication, NEDG5065, "Air Conditioning Tools" for the tools.

End By:

  1. Install the front hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hood (Front) - Remove and Install".
  2. Install the engine bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard (Engine) - Remove and Install".
  3. Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
