Alternator - Remove and Install

Usage:

D7R II ABJ

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the lower access door on the right side of the engine compartment. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Side Guards - Remove and Install".

Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

  1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF Position.

  1. Disconnect harness assemblies (2), (4), and (5) from alternator (1) .

  1. Remove clip (3) and place harness assembly (5) to the side.

  1. Remove belt (6) from alternator (1). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Belts - Inspect/Adjust/Replace".

  1. Remove bolt (8). Remove bolt (9) from each side of the alternator. Remove guard (7). Remove alternator (1) .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install alternator (1). Install guard (7). Install bolts (8) and (9) .

  1. Install belt (6). Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Belts - Inspect/Adjust/Replace".

  1. Connect harness assembly (5). Use the bolt, the washer, and clip (3) to fasten harness assembly (5) to the bracket of the alternator.

  1. Connect harness assemblies (4) and (2) to alternator (1) .

  1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON Position.

End By: Install the lower access door on the right side of the engine compartment. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Side Guards - Remove and Install".
