NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the engine oil from the engine oil pan into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities".

  1. Remove the tube assembly from engine oil pan (3) .

  1. If necessary, remove pipe plugs (4) from engine oil pan (3) .

  1. Use Tooling (A) to support engine oil pan (3). The weight of engine oil pan (3) is approximately 25 kg (55 lb).

  1. Remove bolts (2) .

  1. Remove engine oil pan (3) and gasket (1) .

  1. Place gasket (1) on engine oil pan (3) .

  1. Use Tooling (A) to position engine oil pan (3) on the engine. The weight of engine oil pan (3) is approximately 25 kg (55 lb).

  1. Install bolts (2) .

  1. If necessary, install pipe plugs (4) on engine oil pan (3). Tighten the pipe plugs to a torque of 80 ± 10 N·m (59 ± 7 lb ft).

  1. Install the tube assembly on engine oil pan (3) .

  1. Fill the engine with engine oil to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities".
