Removal Procedure

Start By:
- Remove the cylinder head. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cylinder Head - Remove".

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
- Place the cylinder head assembly in an upright position.

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force. Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment. Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force. |
- Use Tooling (A) in order to compress valve springs (3) and (4). Remove retainer locks (1) .
- Remove Tooling (A). Remove rotocoil assemblies (2), valve springs (3) and (4), and bases (5) .
- Remove inlet valves (6) and exhaust valves (7) from the cylinder head.
Installation Procedure

- Lubricate inlet valves (6) and exhaust valves (7) with clean engine oil. Install the inlet valves and exhaust valves in the cylinder head assembly.

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury. To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment. |
- Place the following items on inlet valves (6) and exhaust valves (7) : bases (5), valve springs (3) and (4) and rotocoil assemblies (2) .
Note: A small amount of grease can be used to hold the retainer locks in position during installation.
- Use Tooling (A) in order to compress valve springs (3) and (4). Install retainer locks (1) .
End By: Install the cylinder head. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cylinder Head - Install".
