Inspect Camshaft And Lifters After A Failure In The Valve Mechanism Area{1209,1208,1210}

Usage:

All 3500 Series Engines

Failures in the valve mechanism area or fuel injection pump area can cause damage to the camshaft or lifters. These failures include broken rocker shafts, rocker arms or rocker shaft bolts, seized injector, broken injector spring, etc. Any time there is a failure in the valve mechanism area or unit injector, the camshaft lobes, lifter roller and the lifter roller pins must be inspected for possible damage. Look for chips on the edges of the lobes and for indications of erosion (spalling) on the lobes and rollers. Also, check to see if the lifter roller pin has moved in its bore.

Example of a lifter pin that has moved.
