Window Washer Pump - Remove and Install

Usage:

973C 3RZ

Removal Procedure

Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Open the access door behind the cab and the access door below the cab. The window washer pump is located in this area.

  1. Remove hoses (1) .

  1. Allow the washer fluid to drain from the window washer pump into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

  1. Disconnect electrical connections (2) .

  1. Remove window washer pumps (3) .

    Note: The window washer pumps snap into position. There are no fasteners that are required.

  1. Remove seals (4) .

Installation Procedure

  1. Place seals (4) into position.

  1. Install window washer pump (3) .

    Note: The window washer pumps snap into position.

  1. Connect electrical connectors (2) to the window washer pump.

  1. Install hoses (1) to the window washer pumps.

  1. Fill the window washer reservoir with the correct type of washer fluid.

  1. Close the access doors.
