(1) Apply a thin amount of lubricant to the shaft with the lubricant that is being sealed.
(2) Torque for 20 bolts ... 250 ± 25 N·m (184 ± 18 lb ft)
Note: Use bolt pattern (6) that is shown above in order to tighten bolts (2) .
(3) 4D-5738 Shim

- Thickness of one shim out of six shims ... 0.05 mm (0.002 inch)
- Thickness of one shim ... 0.81 mm (0.032 inch)
- Thickness of one shim out of seven shims ... 0.25 mm (0.010 inch)
- Inside diameter ... 187.5 mm (7.38 inch)
- Outside diameter ... 238.3 mm (9.38 inch)
- Assembled thickness of shims ... 2.90 ± 0.08 mm (0.114 ± 0.003 inch)
Note: Each 4D-5738 Shim consists of fourteen shims that are bonded together with adhesive.
Note: The 4D-5738 Shim must be flat and free of dents or wrinkles.
(4) Install Duo-Cone seals according to Special Instruction, SEHS8364-03, "Assembly and Installation of Conventional Duo-Cone Seals".
(5) Torque the bolts initially in an alternating star pattern (6) to 725 ± 150 N·m (534 ± 110 lb ft). Torque the bolts in an alternating star pattern (6) to 1050 ± 150 N·m (774 ± 11 lb ft).
Apply 2P-2506 Thread Compound on the faces of the washers and the threads of the studs before you tighten bolts (5).
