Rocker Shaft - Disassemble

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the rocker shaft assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rocker Shaft and Pushrod - Remove".

  1. Use a screwdriver or a similar tool in order to remove retaining ring (1) and the washer from both ends of the rocker shaft assembly.

  2. Remove rocker arm assembly (3) and bushing (4) from rocker shaft assembly (2).

    Note: Place an identification mark on each of the components for installation.

  3. Check the clearance between rocker arm assembly (3) and rocker shaft assembly (2). Replace rocker arm if the clearance is larger than 0.13 mm (0.005 inch).

  4. Remove shaft bracket (5) and rocker arm assembly (6).

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.

    Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.

    Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.


  5. Remove springs (7).

  6. Repeat Steps 2 through 5.
