Rocker Shaft - Disassemble
Start By:
- Remove the rocker shaft assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rocker Shaft and Pushrod - Remove".
Note:
- Use a screwdriver or a similar tool in order to remove retaining ring (1) and the washer from both ends of the rocker shaft assembly.

Illustration 2 g00908913 - Remove rocker arm assembly (3) and bushing (4) from rocker shaft assembly (2).
Note: Place an identification mark on each of the components for installation.
- Check the clearance between rocker arm assembly (3) and rocker shaft assembly (2). Replace rocker arm if the clearance is larger than
0.13 mm (0.005 inch) . - Remove shaft bracket (5) and rocker arm assembly (6).

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.
Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.
Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
- Remove springs (7).
- Repeat Steps 2 through 5.
