Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Install the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
- Connect the frame lock link. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Frame Lock Link - Separate and Connect".
- Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System - Pressure Release/Charge".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil. Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system. Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. |
NOTICE |
---|
Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
Note: Install caps and plugs on all openings in order to prevent dirt or debris from entering the system. Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Note: For easier assembly, mark all hose assemblies, tube assemblies, wire harnesses and cables for identification purposes.

- Disconnect hose assembly (3) from steering neutralizer valve (2) .
- Disconnect tee (4) from steering neutralizer valve (2) .
- Remove two bolts (5) and the washers that secure steering neutralizer valve (2) to the plate assembly. Remove steering neutralizer valve (2) from the plate.
- Remove boot (6) from steering neutralizer valve (2). Remove stem (7), spring (8), O-ring seal (9), and adapter (10) from steering neutralizer valve (2) .
Sudden release of spring force can cause injury. To prevent the possibility of injury, follow the procedure to relieve the spring pressure. |

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
Note: Verify that all of the components of the steering neutralizer valve are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.
Note: Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.
- Use Tooling (A) and a hammer to install lip seal (11) (not shown). Lubricate lip seal (11) (not shown) lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

- Install stem (7), spring (8), O-ring seal (9), and adapter (10) to steering neutralizer valve (2). Install boot (6) to steering neutralizer valve (2) .
Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury. To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment. |

- Connect tube assembly (1) to steering neutralizer valve (2) .
End By:
- Charge the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System - Pressure Release/Charge".
- Separate the frame lock link. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Frame Lock Link - Separate and Connect".
- Remove the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
