Steering Cylinder - Install
Installation Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
Note: Verify that all of the components of the steering cylinder are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.
Note: Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.
- Install O-ring seal (12) to pin assembly (11) .

- Attach a suitable lifting sling around steering cylinder (3). Secure the suitable lifting sling to a hoist. Position steering cylinder (3) to the engine end frame. The weight of steering cylinder (3) is 422 kg (930 lb).

- Position pin assembly (11) and the spacer to steering cylinder (3) and the engine end frame. Install bolt (10) and the washer that secures pin assembly (11) and the spacer to the engine end frame.

- Pull the rod assembly of steering cylinder (3) from the cylinder assembly of steering cylinder (3) .
- Swing steering cylinder (3) toward the nonengine end frame. Connect grease line (8) to steering cylinder (3) .

- Position pin assembly (7) and the spacer to steering cylinder (3) and the nonengine end frame. Install bolt (6) and the washer that secures pin assembly (7) and the spacer to the nonengine end frame.
- Install four bolts (4) and the washers that secure manifold (5) and the seal to steering cylinder (3). Disconnect manifold (5) and the seal from steering cylinder (3) .

- Connect hose assembly (2) to steering cylinder (3) .

- Repeat the procedure for the steering cylinder on the opposite side of the machine.
- Replace two drain plugs (1). Tighten two drain plugs (1) to a torque of 68 ± 7 N·m (50 ± 5 lb ft).

- Fill the two hydraulic tanks for the steering and brake system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Steering and Brake System Oil - Change" for the correct procedure to fill the hydraulic tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" for the appropriate oil.
- The capacity of the steering and brake hydraulic system is 267 L (70.5 US gal).
End By:
- Charge the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System - Pressure Release/Charge".
- Separate the frame lock link. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Frame Lock Link - Separate and Connect".
- Remove the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
