Two of the valve mechanism covers are equipped with adapters. One adapter is for the breather assembly and the other adapter is for the oil filler cap. Prior to assembly with the valve mechanism covers, freeze the adapters to at least -18 °C (-0.4 °F).
- Tighten bolts 1 through 6 in the numerical sequence that is shown in Illustration 2. Tighten the bolts to the following torque. ... 12 ± 3 N·m (9 ± 22 lb ft)

(3) Seal
Cut the seal to length for each of the three valve mechanism covers. Coat the joint surface with 3S-6252 Sealant .
(4) Breather assembly
- Tighten the clamp that is at the base of the breather assembly to the following torque. ... 4.5 ± 0.5 N·m (40 ± 4 lb in)
(5) Valve mechanism cover base
- Tighten bolts 1 through 8 in the numerical sequence that is shown in Illustration 3. Tighten the bolts to the following torque. ... 30 ± 3 N·m (22 ± 2 lb ft)
