Parking Brake Control

Do not engage the parking brake while the machine is moving unless an emergency exists. The use of the parking brake as a service brake in regular operation causes severe damage to the parking brake system. |

| Parking Brake - This lever engages the parking brake. This lever also locks the transmission in NEUTRAL. The machine should not move when the parking brake lever is engaged. Do not use the parking brake for stopping the machine. |

| Locked - Push the lever downward to position (1) in order to engage the parking brake. This also locks the transmission and the steering lever in NEUTRAL. Hole (2) will accommodate a 5P-8501 Padlock . |
Note: You do not need to move the steering control lever from the NO STEER (straight) position in order to lock the lever in place with the parking brake lever. Consult any Caterpillar dealer for service information.

| Unlocked - Pull the lever upward to position (3). This will release the parking brake. The machine can now be moved in any direction by utilizing the transmission and steering. |
