A service maintenance interval warning event occurs when either of the following exceeds the number of hours or days specified by the service interval set points:
- The number of engine hours
- The number of days since the previous alarm occurrence was reset
The service maintenance interval warning will remain active until a reset service interval counter command is received over the data link or from the display.
The service maintenance interval code is generated when the EMCP 3 determines a need for engine service. The need is based on engine hours or the number of days since last service, whichever occurs first.
Test Step 1. TALK TO THE OPERATOR.
- Determine the conditions that caused the diagnostic code.
Expected Result:
Generator set maintenance records indicate that the maintenance interval has been exceeded and maintenance is required.
Results:
- OK - Records indicate service is required. Perform the required maintenance and reset the Service Maintenance Interval in order to indicate when the generator set will need to be serviced again.
STOP
- NOT OK - Records indicate service is not required. Proceed to Test Step 2
Test Step 2. CHECK THE SET POINTS.
- View the following set points.
- Service maintenance interval hours
- Service maintenance interval days
Make note of the set points. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, RENR7902, "Electronic Control Module (Generator Set) - Configure". Compare the set points against the default set points of the particular generator set.
Expected Result:
The set points are correct for your particular generator set and application.
Results:
- OK - The set points are correct for your particular generator set and application.
Repair: There is a possibility that the service maintenance interval was not reset when the generator set was last serviced. Reset the service maintenance interval in order to indicate when the generator set will need to be serviced again. Resume normal operation.
STOP
- NOT OK - The set points are NOT correct for your particular generator set and application.
Repair: Change the set points to the desired values. Reset the generator set. Resume normal operation and verify that the problem has been corrected.
