Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the radiator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Radiator - Remove". The information is in this manual.

1. Remove six bolts (1) and the washers and remove the adapter from the crankshaft.

2. Place marks (3) on the crankshaft vibration damper (2) and on the crankshaft pulley. Remove crankshaft vibration damper (2) .

3. Remove bolt (4) and the washer from the crankshaft pulley.

4. Use Tooling (A) and remove crankshaft pulley (5) from the engine.

Installation Procedure

1. Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

2. Position crankshaft pulley (5) onto the engine. Install the washer and bolt (4). Tighten bolt (4) to a torque of 312 ± 28 N·m (230 ± 21 lb ft).

3. Align marks (3) on the crankshaft vibration damper (2) with the marks on the crankshaft pulley.

4. Position the adapter onto the crankshaft vibration damper. Install six bolts (1) and the washers.
