Usage:
3400 Series Engines
Description of Change: New connecting rod bearings are now used in the rod and piston groups on 3400 Series Engines, as shown in the chart. The new bearings are a different design, which uses a copper material to bond (fasten) the lead-tin overlay to the aluminum bearing material. This copper material will decrease the possibility of scuffing after the lead-tin overlay is worn away.
Formerly, a nickel material was used to bond the overlay to the aluminum bearing material.
Adaptable As: The new 1W7524 Bearing is a direct replacement for the former 8N5426 Bearing. The new bearing is in effect with the serial numbers shown in the chart. Our recommendation is to use the new bearings in these models when a replacement is made.
