(1) Large bolts (3/4 inch)

(2) Small bolts (3/8 inch)

Use the following procedure to tighten the cylinder head bolts:

  1. Apply engine oil to all bolt threads.

  1. Tighten bolts 1 through 20 according to the numerical sequence.

    Torque ... 270 ± 27 N·m (200 ± 20 lb ft)

  1. Tighten bolts 1 through 20 according to the numerical sequence.

    Torque ... 450 ± 20 N·m (330 ± 15 lb ft)

  1. Tighten bolts 1 through 20 according to the numerical sequence.

    Torque ... 450 ± 20 N·m (330 ± 15 lb ft)

  1. Install the rocker arm group.

  1. Tighten bolts 21 through 26 according to the numerical sequence.

    Torque ... 270 ± 27 N·m (200 ± 20 lb ft)

  1. Tighten bolts 21 through 26 according to the numerical sequence.

    Torque ... 450 ± 20 N·m (330 ± 15 lb ft)

  1. Tighten bolts 21 through 26 according to the numerical sequence.

    Torque ... 450 ± 20 N·m (330 ± 15 lb ft)

  1. Tighten the 3/8 inch bolts (2) .

    Torque ... 43 ± 7 N·m (32 ± 5 lb ft)

New cylinder head thickness ... 112.78 ± 0.25 mm (4.440 ± 0.010 inch)
