Oil Filter (Transmission)

Oil filter (1) is located inside the transmission housing.
Oil flows from the transmission pump through the oil filter. This ensures that contamination is removed from the oil before the oil enters the system components.
Bypass valve (2) is connected in parallel to the oil filter. If the oil filter becomes blocked, the pressure between the pump and the filter will rise. This increased pressure opens a flow path through the bypass valve to the system components. Movement of the bypass valve moves a switch which sends a signal to the ECM. The ECM illuminates an indicator in the cab which informs the operator that the oil filter is blocked.
