Start By:
- Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".

Accidental machine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the machine. To avoid accidental machine starting, turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and remove the key. If the machine is not equipped with a battery disconnect switch, disconnect the battery cables from the battery and tape the battery clamps. Place a do not operate tag at the battery disconnect switch location to inform personnel that the machine is being worked on. |

NOTICE |
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This will help to prevent fluid loss and this will help to keep contaminants from entering the system.
- Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and remove the key.

- Disconnect hose assembly (1) .
- Cut tie-wrap (2) .
- Disconnect three wires (3) .

- Disconnect throttle cable (4) .
- Remove bolts (6) and the nuts. Move bracket (5) and throttle cable (4) away from the engine.

- Disconnect tube assemblies (7), (8) and (9) .

- Remove the bolt, the washer and clip (11). Move hose assembly (10) away from the engine.
- Remove cover (12) .

- Remove clip (13). Use Tooling (A) to slide sleeve (14) away from the governor and toward the cylinder head.
- Install Tooling (B) into link pin (15) of the governor output shaft. When Tooling (B) is properly installed, equal lengths of the smaller end of Tooling (B) will extend from both ends of link pin (15) .
- Install Tooling (C) onto the smaller end of Tooling (B) in order to help to align link pin (15) .

- Remove bolts (16) and the washers. Carefully remove pump (17) so that the fuel control linkage is not damaged. Remove the O-ring seal on governor (17) .
