Do not turn the crankshaft or the camshaft while the camshaft gear is removed. If the front gear group is not correctly timed during installation, interference can occur between the pistons and the valves, resulting in damage to the engine. |
- Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the plate (18) and the front housing (15).
- Install a new gasket (17) on plate (18).
Note: Trim the gasket even with the bottom of the front housing after assembly.
- Apply Tooling (A) to the bottom of gasket (17) in order to fill the space at the front housing and the engine oil pan.
- Install front housing (15) on the dowel pins on the cylinder block.
- Install bolts (19) for the engine oil pan to a torque of
55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft) .Show/hide table

- Install bolt (12).
- Install the nut on stud (11).
- Install bolts (13) and nuts (14) on the front housing.
- Position strap (10) on the front housing and on the cylinder head and install bolts (9).

- Position clips (1) and (5) and install bolts (2).
- Install bolts (6).
- Position plate (8) on the studs. Install nuts (7) and the washer on the studs.
- If necessary, install the accessory drive on the front housing.

- Install the crankshaft position sensor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Position Sensor - Remove and Install".
- Install the camshaft position sensor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Camshaft Position Sensor - Remove and Install".
- Install the auxiliary water pump, if necessary. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Auxiliary Water Pump - Install".
- Install the pump drive, if necessary. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pump Drive - Install".
- Install the crankshaft front seal and the wear sleeve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Front Seal - Install".
- Install the camshaft gear. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Camshaft Gear - Remove and Install".
- Install the air compressor, if necessary. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Compressor - Remove and Install".
