Front Idler, Recoil Spring and Hydraulic Track Adjuster - Remove and Install

Usage:

OEMS L5E

Removal Procedure for the Front Idler, Recoil Spring and Hydraulic Track Adjuster on CIPI Undercarriage Arrangements which are Based on 330C Track Type Excavators

Start By:

  1. Separate the track assemblies. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Separate".

  1. Once front idler (1), the recoil spring, and the hydraulic track adjuster (2) is partially out of the track frame reposition lifting straps in order to support the recoil spring, the hydraulic track adjuster, and the front idler.

  1. Slide the front idler, the recoil spring, and the hydraulic track adjuster (2) out of the track roller frame as one unit. The weight of the unit is approximately 204 kg (450 lb).

  1. Leave the suitable lifting device attached and turn the front idler, the recoil spring, and the hydraulic track adjuster around 180 degrees.

  1. Install the front idler partially into the track frame. The front idler, the recoil spring, and the hydraulic track adjuster will be supported by the track frame.

  1. Reposition the lifting straps in order to support the recoil spring and the hydraulic track adjuster (2) .

  1. Remove bolts (3) that hold the front idler to the recoil spring and the hydraulic track adjuster together.

  1. Separate recoil spring and the hydraulic track adjuster (2) from the front idler. The front idler will be supported by the track frame.

  1. The weight of the recoil spring and the hydraulic track adjuster as a unit is approximately 95 kg (210 lb).

    Illustration 4g00708896

  1. Attach lifting straps and a suitable lifting device to the front idler (1), as shown.

  1. Remove the front idler from the track roller frame. The weight of the front idler is approximately 109 kg (240 lb).

Installation Procedure for the Front Idler, Recoil Spring and Hydraulic Track Adjuster on CIPI Undercarriage Arrangements which are Based on 330C Track Type Excavators

  1. Be sure that the mating surfaces on the front support for the recoil spring are clean and free of dirt and debris prior to assembly. Be sure that the mating surfaces on the two bearings for the front idler are clean and free of dirt and debris prior to assembly.

  1. Attach two lifting straps and a hoist to the front idler (1), as shown. Install the front idler in the track roller frame. The weight of the front idler is 109 kg (240 lb).

    Illustration 6g00708895

  1. Attach lifting straps and a suitable lifting device to the recoil spring and the hydraulic track adjuster (2) .

  1. Put the recoil spring and the hydraulic track adjuster (2) in position on the front idler.

  1. Install bolts (3) and tighten to a torque of 240 ± 40 N·m (177 ± 30 lb ft).

    Illustration 7g00708894

  1. Fasten three lifting straps and a suitable lifting device to the front idler, the recoil spring, and the hydraulic track adjuster.

  1. Turn the front idler and the recoil spring around 180 degrees. The weight of the unit is approximately 204 kg (450 lb).

  1. Slide the front idler (1), the recoil spring, and the hydraulic track adjuster (2) partially into the track roller frame.

    Illustration 8g00708958

  1. Remove the lifting strap around the hydraulic track adjuster. Keep the two lifting straps around the front idler (1), as shown.

  1. Use a pry bar in order to slide the front idler into the final position inside the track roller frame.

End By: Connect the track assemblies. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Connect".
