Use Correct Size Bolt To Install 5P9736, 6V2156 Or 6V2157 Link Brackets{0644}

Usage:

The 5P9736, 6V2156 or 6V2157 Link Brackets can be used in many applications where standard eyebolts were formerly used. These brackets will accept loads at an angle without reduction in capacity. They also need less clearance for installation than a standard eyebolt. However, to prevent personal injury or damage to a component, the brackets must be installed correctly.

When a bolt location on a component is used as a point to fasten a link bracket, a different length bolt must be used in place of the original bolt to hold the bracket in place. The length of the bolt must be enough to give thread engagement that is 1 1/2 to 2 times the diameter of the bolt with a hardened flat washer installed under the bolt head. Also, when the bolt is tightened it must not bottom out (make contact with the bottom of the hole) and there must not be any free play of the bracket.

"One Safe Source" can be used as a guide in the selection of the correct length bolt. Any bolt used with a link bracket must meet or exceed SAE Grade 8 strength requirements.

The chart which follows gives the correct specifications for the Maximum Work Load Capacity and the Attachment Bolt Nominal Diameter for each link bracket.
