a. remove timing gear cover
1. Remove bolt (2) and the clip.
2. Remove sleeve (3) and guide assembly (1).
NOTE: If the valve assembly will not come out after the clip is removed, hit guide assembly (1) with a plastic hammer to loosen it.
3. Remove plunger (4) and spring (5) from guide (6).
4. Remove bolts (8) and cover (7).
5. Remove inner rotor (10) and outer rotor (9). The bearing in the inner rotor is not serviceable, and the rotors must be replaced as a set.
6. Remove bearing (11) from the timing gear cover.
Install Oil Pump And Relief Valve
NOTICE |
---|
Replacement of rotors must be made as a set. |
1. If shaft (2) was removed from the timing gear cover, it must be installed to dimension (Y) which is 21.84 ± 0.25 mm (.860 ± .010 in.) from the end of the shaft to the bottom face of the counterbore in the cover.
2. Install bearing (1) in the timing gear cover to dimension (X) which is 8.74 ± 0.25 mm (.344 ± .010 in.). The bearing joint must be located 45° ± 30° from plane (Z). Use tool (A) to install bearing (1).
3. Put outer rotor (3) in position, and install inner rotor (4).
4. Check the clearance for the oil pump rotor tip with feeler gauge (5). Rotor tip clearance is 0.05 to 0.20 mm (.002 to .008 in.). Maximum permissible rotor tip clearance is 0.28 mm (.011 in.).
5. Install cover (6) and bolts (8) that hold it to timing gear cover (7).
6. Check the oil pump end clearance with feeler gauge (5). The maximum permissible end clearance is 0.120 mm (.0047 in.).
NOTE: Be sure sleeve (11) is installed with groove (slot) (13) down as shown. After the clip (not shown) is installed in groove (slot) (13), the top of sleeve (11) must be 0.58 mm (.003 in.) above housing machined surface (12).
7. Install plunger (14), spring (10), guide (9) and sleeve (11).
8. Install clip (15) in groove (slot) (13).
NOTE: On earlier machines, guide (9) will not have threads and will have to be pushed into the timing gear cover. See Step 10.
9. Install plunger (14), spring (10) and guide (9) on the timing gear cover. Push guide (9) into the timing gear cover. The difference in height between the step on guide (9) and machine surface (12) on the timing gear cover is 20.60 ± 0.25 mm (.811 ± .010 in.). Install sleeve (11) with groove (slot) (13) down as shown. Install the retainer that holds guide (9) and sleeve (11) in the timing gear cover.
