Usage:
START BY:
a. remove turbocharger (953 only)
b. tilt cab (24° position) (943 only) *
*This operation is in the Vehicle Systems Disassembly And Assembly section.
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the fuel injection lines to remove the exhaust manifold.
1. Remove exhaust elbow (1) from the exhaust manifold on the 943 engine.
2. Remove bolts (2) and exhaust manifold (3) from the cylinder head.
Install Exhaust Manifold
NOTE: If studs (1) were removed, tighten them to a torque of 30 ± 5 N·m (22 ± 4 lb.ft.).
1. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of the bolts that hold the exhaust manifold in place.
2. Put exhaust manifold (2) and the gasket in position on the cylinder head, and install the locks and bolts that hold them in place. Bend the locks over the bolt heads.
3. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of the studs for elbow (3).
4. Install exhaust elbow (3) on the exhaust manifold of the 943 engine.
