*This operation is in the Vehicle Systems Disassembly And Assembly section.

1. Drain the coolant from the radiator.

2. Remove the piece of rubber material in the bottom of the battery boxes. Remove bolts (1) that hold the battery boxes to the frame.

3. Fasten a nylon strap and hoist to the battery box as shown. Remove bolts (2) and the bolt that holds the battery box to the radiator guard. Remove the battery box. The weight of the battery box for the 943 is 34 kg (75 lb.). The weight of the battery box for the 953 is 41 kg (90 lb.). Remove the other battery box in the same way.

4. Remove clamp (3), and move exhaust pipe (5) clear of the muffler.

5. Remove the four bolts that hold tube (4) for the air cleaner to the hood.

6. Remove clip (6) that holds the top radiator tube to the hood. Disconnect the top radiator hose from the radiator.

7. Fasten a chain and hoist to the support inside shield (7) for the muffler at three points. Remove bolts (8), and remove the muffler and shield (7) as a unit. Weight is approximately 43 kg (95 lb.).

8. Fasten nylon straps and a hoist to hood (9) as shown. Remove the four bolts that hold the hood in place, and remove the hood. The weight of the hood for the 943 is 25 kg (55 lb.). The weight of the hood for the 953 is 30 kg (66 lb.).

9. Remove three brackets (10), and remove grille (11) from the radiator guard.

10. Disconnect the wires from the lights. Remove guards (12) and the lights as a unit from the radiator guard.

NOTE: It is not necessary to drain the transmission to disconnect the oil lines from the transmission oil cooler if the engine has been stopped for a short time.

16. Disconnect oil lines (15) from the hydraulic oil cooler. Install plugs in the oil lines. Remove the bolts that hold hydraulic oil cooler (14) in place, and remove the hydraulic oil cooler. Disconnect oil line (13) from the top of the transmission oil cooler, and remove the clips that hold the oil line to the frame on the radiator.

12. Remove guard (16) below the radiator.

13. Disconnect radiator lower hose (17) from the tube that comes from the engine.

14. Disconnect oil line (18) from the bottom of the transmission oil cooler.

15. Remove clip (19) and the clips that hold oil lines (15) to the frame. Pull the oil line that goes to the top of the transmission oil cooler and oil lines (15) down through the radiator guard so they are clear of the radiator guard.

16. Disconnect wires (20) and (21) for the backup alarm. Disconnect wire (22) for the lights.

17. Install two 1/2"-13 NC forged eyebolts (23) with nuts and washers on the radiator guard. Fasten tooling (A), chains and a hoist to the radiator guard as shown.

18. Remove bolts (24) at the rear of the radiator guard and bolts (25) from both sides of the radiator guard. Remove the radiator and guard as a unit. The weight of the radiator and guard for the 943 is 248 kg (547 lb.). The weight of the radiator and guard for the 953 is 300 kg (661 lb.).

Install Radiator And Guard Assembly

1. Install two 1/2"-13 NC forged eyebolts (1) with nuts and washers on the radiator guard. Fasten tooling (A), chains and a hoist to the radiator guard as shown. Put the radiator and guard in position on the machine. When the radiator guard is put into position on the machine, be sure baffle (4) at the back of the radiator guard is in the correct position and not under the radiator guard. Install the bolts in holes (2) at the rear of the radiator guard and in holes (3) on both sides of the radiator guard.

2. Connect wires (5) for the light.

3. Connect wires (6) for the back-up alarm.

4. Connect wires (7) to the lights, and put the lights and guards (8) in position on the radiator guard, and install the bolts that hold them in place.

5. Put oil line (9) in position up through the bottom of the radiator guard, and connect it to the top of the transmission oil cooler. Install the two clips that hold oil line (9) to the frame for the radiator.

6. Put oil lines (10) up through the bottom of the radiator guard, and connect them to hydraulic oil cooler (11). Put hydraulic oil cooler (11) in position, and install the bolts that hold it in place.

7. Put grille (12) in position on the radiator guard, and install the three brackets that hold it in place.

8. Install the clips that hold oil lines (10) to the frame.

9. Connect radiator lower hose (13) to the tube that comes from the engine.

10. Connect oil line (14) to the bottom of the transmission oil cooler.

11. Install clip (15) that holds the top oil cooler line to the frame.

12. Install guard (16) below the radiator.

13. Fasten straps and hoist to hood (18). Put the hood in position on the machine, and install the four bolts that hold it in place.

14. Fasten a chain and hoist to the support inside shield (17) on the muffler at three points. Put the shield and muffler in position on the hood, and install the four bolts that hold it in place.

15. Connect the top radiator hose to the radiator, and install clip (19) that holds the radiator tube to the hood.

16. Put exhaust pipe (20) in position on the muffler, and install the clamp that holds it in place.

17. Put tube (21) for the air cleaner in position on the hood, and install the four bolts that hold it in place.

18. Fasten a nylon strap and hoist to battery box (22), and put the battery box in position on the machine. Install the four bolts that hold it in place. Install the piece of rubber material in the bottom of the battery box. Install the other battery box in the same way.

19. Fill the radiator with coolant to the correct level. See the Maintenance Guide.
