Timing Gear Cover

Usage:

Remove And Install Timing Gear Cover

Start By:

a. remove water pump

b. remove alternator

c. remove air conditioner compressor (do not disconnect lines and hoses from air conditioner).

d. remove fan drive

e. remove crankshaft front seal and wear sleeve.

f. remove oil pan plate

1. Remove two bolts (1), support brackets and remove the fill tube. Remove covers (2).

2. Remove three bolts (3) and remove the bracket for the air conditioner and the spacer block.

3. Remove clip (4) holding harness, remove four bolts (5) and alternator bracket.

4. Position a jack and tooling (A).

5. Remove bolts (6), use tooling (A) and jack to raise engine about 3.18 mm (.125 in.). Remove engine front support (7).

6. Remove bolts (8) and trunion (9).

7. Remove nuts and bolts (10), then remove timing gear cover, and gasket.

NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the timing gear cover.

8. Install a new gasket and timing gear cover. Install nuts and bolts (10).

NOTE: Cut gasket off even with the bottom face of the block. Apply 5H2471 Gasket Cement on the bottom of the gasket, where the gasket contacts the oil pan plate gasket.

9. Install trunion (9), O-ring seal and bolts (8).

10. Install front support (7) and bolts. Lower tooling (A) and install bolts (6). Remove tooling (A) and the jack.

11. Install alternator bracket and four bolts (5). Install the harness clip.

12. Install spacer block, air conditioner bracket and bolts (3).

13. Install covers (2). Position oil filler tube and install bolts (1).

End By:

a. install oil pan plate

b. install crankshaft front seal and wear sleeve

c. install fan drive

d. install air conditioner compressor

e. install alternator

f. install water pump
