Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove tube assembly (3) and tube assembly (2) from fuel transfer pump (1). Plug and cap all openings. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

  1. Remove bolts (5) and fuel transfer pump (1) from unit injector hydraulic pump (4) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (6) from the unit injector hydraulic pump. Inspect O-ring seal (6) for wear or damage. If the O-ring seal is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.

  1. Remove the fittings for the fuel inlet port and the fuel outlet port from fuel transfer pump (1) .
