Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Drain the cooling system. If the engine uses diesel engine antifreeze/coolant, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (DEAC) - Change". If the engine uses extended life coolant, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Loosen hose clamps (3) and (2) from hoses (4). Remove hoses (4) from heat exchanger (1) .
Note: Removing the hoses from the heat exchanger will drain the sea water circuit. The sea water circuit will fill when the engine is restarted. There is no need to fill the components before assembly.

- Loosen hose clamps (6) from hoses (5). Remove hoses (5) from heat exchanger (1) .

- Remove bolt (13) for manual sump pump (14). Remove manual sump pump (14) .

- Remove bolts (10) from bracket (9) .
- Remove bolt (11) from bracket (9). Remove bracket (9) .
- Remove bolts (12) from bracket (8) .
- Remove bolts (7) from bracket (8). Remove bracket (8). Remove heat exchanger (1) .
